Ingredients:

3 1/2 cups all purpose flour

1/2 Teaspoon baking powder

2 tablespoons corn starch

1 cup powdered sugar

1 1/2 cups unsalted butter, softened

2 teaspoons vanilla

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 large egg, lightly beaten

25 candied red cherries, cut in half

2 tablespoons of confectioners' sugar ( optional )

Mix instruction:

Step 1 - mix butter, sugar and egg for 3 minutes until all even and smooth, then add vanilla.

Step 2 - mix corn starch, baking powder and flour, split in 4 small portions, then add gradually with other ingredients until the dough blended well.

Step 3 - roll the dough in long round shape with 2 inches diameter.

Cut the dough in 1/4 inch thick and place the round shaped dough in the baking pan.

place the half cut cherry in the middle and slightly press it.

Use a small knife or fork to design the cookies as you wish.
